Previously a delivery-only restaurant, Tamada opened its doors to diners this week with a new name – Qartuli.
The authentic Georgian restaurant serves up dishes like Khachapuri, Khinkali and Chakapuli in a setting described by customers as cosy and traditional, plus the staff are friendly.
Georgian cuisine
The food incorporate flavours from Mediterranean, Asian and Iranian cuisines.
The menu at Qartuli
One of the most popular dishes on the menu is the Khinkali or Georgian Dumplings. These juicy little parcels are filled with either beef or beef and lamb. Vegetarians can choose between the mushroom dumplings or cheese dumplings (or maybe try both).

Expect to find the traditional Georgian dish Khachapuri. This bread boat is made with Sulguni and Imeretian cheese and has an egg yolk and butter in the centre. To enjoy it, rip off the side of the bread boat and use it to break the egg yolk.
There’s a healthier version too: the Lobiani, which is stuffed with red kidney beans, herbs and spices.
Traditional chicken dishes like Satsivi (chicken in a nutty walnut sauce) and Chkmeruli (chicken in a garlicky liquid) can also be found here in addition to Mchadi (cornbread) starters, kidney bean stew and beef kebabs.

Diners with a sweet tooth will be pleased with Qartuli’s dessert selection which includes Churchkhela, candy made with walnuts dipped in grape juice concentrate; Medok, which is honey cake the Georgian way (a layered cake with caramel and honey cream); as well as Tklapi or fruit leather, which is available in flavours such as apricot, plum, apple.
Why wait to visit Georgia when you can sample the cuisine in your city?
